Community Credits
SimpleX is a private messaging network without user IDs. To scale large groups and channels sustainably—without ads or a single controlling investor—the project is introducing Community Credits.
What are Community Credits?
Prepaid infrastructure credits for servers used by groups and channels. They are not tradable speculative tokens: no pre-sale or emission. Users pay for network capacity while preserving privacy.
How it will work (overview)
- Purchase credits (initially via stablecoins; more payment options planned).
- Funds are held in autonomous smart contracts not controlled by a single company.
- Assign credits privately to a group or channel using its public address (zero-knowledge proofs planned).
- Group owners redeem credits to server operators; operators receive a share of unlocked funds.
Why it matters
Advertising-funded messengers monetize your metadata. Centralized platforms can de-platform users. Community Credits aim to fund servers and development while keeping the network decentralized and user-owned.
